Lawrence "Larry" Thurston Cook
January 17, 1938 - September 18, 2015
Lawrence (Larry) Thurston Cook, 77, resident of Summerdale, AL, passed away on Friday, September 18th, 2015.
Larry was born in Pensacola, FL, on January 17th, 1938. He proudly served in the US Navy, and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from the US Navy, on 1970, after 20 years of service. Once retired from the US Navy, Larry joined Georgia Power, from where he retired after 15 years of service.
Larry – Snake Doctor – was honored to be a member of the Vietnam Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club, VNV/LV MC, having shared lifelong experiences with many Brothers and their families for over 20 years.
He graduated from Pensacola State College. He was Baptist by faith. He loved to 'ride free' his Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and to tell his beloved friends and family anecdotes from times he used to live abroad while in service in the US Navy, or from his several trips to Brazil.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Cook, his son, Gregory Cook, and his loyal buddies Chi Chi and Chi Chi II.
Survivors include three daughters, Elida Almeida, Brazil, Terry Fredrikson and Donna Hammett, Alabama, and one son, Rodney Cook, Alabama, along with six grandchildren; Cody, Jason, Michael, Amber, Opie and Gabe, many very special friends, and his dear baby dog, Hannah.
A Funeral Cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 12noon for a Memorial Service at 12:30pm Monday, February 22nd, 2016 at Barrancas National Cemetery, with military honors.
