In early infancy she received the sacrament of holy baptism. At the age of fifteen was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran at Varel in Oldenburg. In the year 1859 she was united in holy wedlock with Johann Dietrich Behrens by the Rev. Kloster. Into this union were born nine children, three daughters and six sons.
Leaving Germany in 1866, for eighteen years they made their home in Illinois, then moved to Saunders county, Nebraska. After laboring here for nineteen years they retired to their home at Goehner. On the 26th day of November, 1913, Mr. Behrens was called from time into eternity leaving his grief stricken wife firm in faith, awaiting the day when they might again be united never to part again.
Mrs. Behrens leaves to mourn her departure her three daughters, Mrs. Anna Ludeman of California; Mrs. Minnie Honnor of Roca, Nebr., Mrs. Christ Dockweiler of Colon, Nebr., and six sons, Mr. George Behrens of Ottertail, Minn.; Mr. Herman Behrens of Beaver Crossing, Nebr.; Mr. Fred Behrens of Goehner, Nebr.; Mr. John Behrens of Bayard, Iowa; Mr. William Behrens of Goehner and Henry Behrens also a resident of Goehner, 43 grandchildren, and numerous other friends and relatives. May God have granted the departed one eternal life, to all mourners grace and consolation.
The funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., at the Evangelical church of Goehner, Rev. L.G. Marx officiating. Interment took place at the Prairie Mound cemetery near Goehner.
