"Mrs. Barbara Patricia Horne Brown, of New Bern, N.C., died Tuesday, June 22, 1999. Mrs. Brown was born in Atlanta August 2, 1933, the daughter of Willie Patricia "Pat" Anderson Horne Simmons and the late Robert Fouche Horne Sr. She attended Sacred Heart High in Atlanta, and worked as church secretary at the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, Calif., the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, and Colonial Church in Prairie Village, Kan. Mrs. Brown was married to the late Thomas N. Brown in 1950 at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include two daughters, Nannette Patricia Brown Rod, Overland Park, Kan., and Barbara Lilleen Brown Hammond; four brothers, Robert Fouche Horne Jr., James Morgan Simmons, Jerry Thomas Simmons and George Gerald Simmons; one sister, Donna Miller; and one granddaughter, Ashley Fouche Hammond, Greenville, N.C."
