Nadine was born on a homestead near Uniontown, to Herman and Carrie Mueller.

Herman Mueller died in 1920, leaving a widow and children Bernadine, Nadine and expected baby Herman.

Later, with stepfather Eli Thyfault, the family moved to a farm near Hays, Kan. Eventually, all returned to Lewiston, where the family increased in size with the births of Norman and Yvonne. As young girls, Nadine and Bernie attended boarding school with the Sisters of St. Joseph in California. They developed a strong, lifelong faith as Catholics and a close bond that endured throughout their lives.

Nadine attended Kinman Business School in Spokane and worked as a bookkeeper in Lewiston. During that time, she met Edward Peterson and they were married in 1941 at Holy Family Church in Clarkston.

After World War II began, the couple moved to Seattle, where Ed worked for Boeing until the war ended, when they returned to Lewiston. They had three children, Charles, Kathleen and Robert. Together, the couple operated Pacific Electric in the Orchards until retirement. Ed and Nadine had been married 56 years when Ed died in 1997.

A gardener, baker and bridge player, Nadine also loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially at the family cabin near Elk City. She treasured the close bond she enjoyed with her younger sister, Yvonne. For many years, Nadine was an active member and communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, from its beginning until the parish combined to form All Saints Catholic Church. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters. For the past few years, Nadine resided at Guardian Angel Homes, where she received wonderful care and assistance from the staff.

Nadine was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen; granddaughter Tami; and siblings Bernadine, Herman and Norman.
