Mr. Bowman, 89, died July 16, 2003, at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Hamburg, Ark., on Feb. 14, 1914, to William Irving Bowman and Axie Pittman Bowman.
He was owner of Bowman Barber Shop for 69 years. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Clark Bowman and Herman Bowman Jr.; and a granddaughter, Jamie Gibson.
Survivors are his wife, Elsie V. Bowman; his daughter, Katrina Jackson of Brookhaven; his sons, Kenneth Bowman of Brookhaven, and Richard Bowman of Zachary, La.; his sister, Betty Ann Evans of Gretna, La; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
