MRS. VALLEJO PASSES AWAY AT NAPA HOME
Was Member of Old Spanish California Family; Resided Here Many Years


Mrs. Armandia Vallejo, 76 passed away early yesterday morning, following a heart attack. She had been ill for some time.

Deceased was born in Monterey, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe Sobranes. When but a girl she came to Napa county with her parents and lived here for the remainder of her life.

Her husband, who passed on February 9, 1930, on his 80th birthday, was the son of Captain Salvador Vallejo. The latter was a brother of General Mariano Vallejo, a Spanish governor of California before it became a state.

Mr. and Mrs. Ignacio Vallejo lived for many years at the old adobe at the Trancas and after this landmark was destroyed by fire, moved to Napa and established their home at 1644 Brown Street, where they reside until the end.

Mrs. Vallejo's only immediate relative is a brother, Constantino Sobranes of San Francisco. The following were nieces and and [sic] nephews: Mrs. Will King, Oakland; Mrs. James E. Burke, San Francisco; Mrs. Bert Wyman, Oakland; Mrs. Herbert Knoph, San Rafael; Mrs. J.O. Gantner, San Francisco; Mrs. Del Hinton, Kansas City; Mrs. H.T. Holmes, Stockton, and Mrs. L.H. Burnell, Mrs. Martin Burnell, U.L. Frisby and R.P. Frisby all of Napa.

The remains are at the Treadway funeral chapel, where funeral services will be held at two o'clock tomorrow afternoon.

MEMBER OF OLD SPANISH-CALIFORNIA FAMILY BREATHES LAST AT HOME IN NAPA.


Another of the pioneers which connected California of Spanish days with the present passed today with the death of Mrs. Armandina [sic] Vallejo, 76 years old, and widow of Ignacio Vallejo. The end came unexpectedly shortly after 2 o'clock this morning, from a heart attack. She had been in poor health for some time.

Mrs. Vallejo was born in Monterey, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe Soberanes. She came to Napa County with her parents when a girl and had lived here the remainder of her life. The Soberanes family was of purest Castilian blood [sic], and Mrs. Vallejo was noted in early days as being one of the most beautiful Spanish women in Napa County.

Her husband, who passed away on February 9, 1930, on this 80th [sic, 81st] birthday, was the son of Captain Salvador Vallejo [Mexican Army]. The latter was a brother of General [sic, Colonel, Mexican Army] Mariano Vallejo, a Spanish Governor [sic, Mexican Lieut. Gov.] of California before it became a state. Mr. and Mrs. Ignacio Vallejo lived for many years at the Old Adobe at the Trancas and after this landmark was destroyed by a fire, they moved to Napa and lived at 1644 North Brown street, the last home on this earth of each of them. Mrs. Vallejo's only immediate surviving relative is a brother, Constantino Soberanes, of San Francisco.
