Hazel E. Maas, age 70, of Gresham, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, in Shawano. Hazel was born on Oct. 22, 1936, in Eau Claire County, the daughter of the late Floyd E. and Laverna M. (Campbell) Markham. On Sept. 22, 1962, she was united in marriage to Gerald D. Maas in Eau Claire. Hazel worked as a Nurses Aid at Birch Hill Health Care Center for 27 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gresham. Hazel is survived by: her husband, Gerald; her three children, Larilei (John) Basore of Chrystal River, Fla., Daniel (Lynette) Maas of Chicago, Rhonda Maas of Gresham; her two step-children, Gene Maas of Shawano, Genelle Naund of Plover; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters, Gerold (Colette) Markham of Mesa, Ariz., Beverly Markham of Eau Claire, MarLon (Pokyo) Markham of Janesville, Julia Smith of Janesville, Beatrice (William) Boweter of Tooele, Utah, Janet (Kenneth) Gerner of Barron, Lila (Ronald) Lahn of Eau Claire; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Markham of Clear Lake. Hazel was preceded in death by: one son, Brian; one daughter, Gail; her parents; one brother; and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gresham with the Bishop Patrick Pleshek officiating. Burial will be in the Gresham Public Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after noon until the time of the service
