Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and enjoyed scrapbooking, journaling, Bible study, and needle work. She pieced several quilt tops and crocheted countless afghans for family members and friends. Mrs. Adams was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tahoka for 40 years, and later the Union Baptist Church, where she served as the Sunday School Secretary for 17 years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her five sons and three daughters-in-law, Wendell and Opal Ruth Moore of Lubbock, Bill and Janie Moore of Hobbs, N.M., Jerry Adams of Lubbock, George and Billie Adams of Snyder and Robert Adams of Slaton; 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; one sister; both husbands; a son, James Douglas Adams, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Sue Adams; and a granddaughter, Angela Adams.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at White Memorial Chapel in Lubbock with Bill McGraw, Chaplin of the Grand Court, officiating. A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Nevels Memorial Cemetery in Tahoka with Clifton Griffith, pastor of Union Baptist Church of Snyder, officiating.
