George Stephen Keith (who went by Stephen Keith) was the son of Nichodemus and Margaret (Borden) Keith. He married Rebecca Crane. Roy T. Marshall's book, "Descendants of Nichodemus Keith and Margaret Borden" states the author found "Second Class Certification issued in Red River Co., Texas granted to late emigrants", and granted by the County Court. It lists Stephen's three oldest sons, Gabriel, Nichodemus and William, each receiving 640 acres in 1839 as well as himself. Stephen died in Erath County, Texas in August of 1859.
The 1850 census for Titus County, Texas lists Stephen age 61, and his wife Rebecca age 52 and son Martin age 10.

He and Rebecca had the following children:

William Stephen "Little Bird" Keith born about 1814, died 1901 Erath County, Texas. He is listed in the 1850 census for Titus County, Texas at age 36 born in Tennessee, wife Nancy age 34, Caroline age 15, Elizabeth age 13, Mahala age 11, George age 9, David age 5, Charles age 3, and Amanda under 1 years old.

Gabriel Keith born Feb 25, 1819, died Nov 19, 1909, married Synthia (Cynthia) Jane Campbell. The 1860 census for Erath County, Texas listed Gabriel at age 42, wife Cynthia J. age 40, daughter Lucinda age 20, John M. age 18, Lydia W. age 16, Brewy? Berry M. age 14, Le Roy age 12, Newton J. age 10, Virginia age 8, James R. G. age 6, Mary P. age 4, and Martin age 1.

Nichodemus Keith, born about 1821, died Sept 29, 1853 in Hunt County, Texas, wife Eliabeth Brumbelow, 1823-1895. The 1850 census for Hunt County, Texas listed Nichodemus age 28 born in Tennessee, wife Elizabeth age 26, Elijah age 8, Stephen age 6, John B. age 4.

James Harvey Keith, born Feb 21 1829, died Nov 9, 1901.

Martin Luther Keith, born Aug 10, 1839, died April 5, 1885.
