(Information received from Joan Armistead-Dean) Grandson of John ARMISTEAD (War of 1812) Martin was a Confederate Soldier in Company. K, 66th GA Infantry, Confederate States Of America. He was born abt.1824 in Walton County, GA, & died 19 JUL 1883 in Walton County, GA. Martin is buried on the Old ADCOCK home place on Harmony Church Road, Good Hope, Georgia. Martin wed Sophronia R. ADCOCK 02 AUG 1848 in Walton Co., GA. Sophronia applied for a pension from Martin's military service, and received it. They had a number of children, among them my grandfather, Jesse Jackson ARMISTEAD, who married Mary Louvenia BROCKWELL.

He joined the 'Walton Members Only' Company K, 66th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry September 25, 1863; in Ocmulgee Hospital, Macon, Georgia with anascarca June 17-18, 1864; discharged 1864.
