Hilmer Pedersen was born Feb. 24, 1905 in Hetland to Jul and Caroline Pedersen. He grew up in Hetland. He married Elvina Bauman Sept. 13, 1933 in Hetland.

They lived in the Arlington area. He was a retired policeman for the city of Arlington, S.D. and operated the Arlington bowling alley for seven years, was a light plant operator and a creamery and railroad employee.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Goshen and Arlington, was the founder of the Senior Center in Arlington and was a member of the Goshen Maple City Senior Citizens, Golden Acres and Moose Lodge. After his wife’s death in May, 1984, he moved to Indiana.

He died Sunday, Feb. 25, 1990, in Goshen General Hospital, Goshen, Ind. He is survived by one son Loren, from Eureka, California; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Lorna) Petersen, Eureka, Calif., Mrs. Ervin (Bonnie) Mullet, Goshen, Ind., and Mrs. Charles (Geraldine) Wiederman, Middlebury, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one brother Jul from Lake Norden and five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Kneip from Arlington; Esther Reich from Nampa, Idaho, Mrs. Everett (Ellen) Larson of Fort Pierre, Alice Sprauge of Pierre and Mrs. Phyllis Wakman of Yankton. He was preceded in death by one son, LeRoy.

Services were held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen, Indiana and at the Trinity Lutheran Church Arlington, South Dakota. Burial was at the Arlington Cemetery.
