Luise Maria Welker Arts, 71, passed away at home on Sunday, May 28, 2006, surrounded by her family.

Born July 21, 1934, in Czervenka, Yugoslavia, daughter of the late Ambrose and Maria Welker; wife of her beloved Ted Arts for 50 years.

Immigrated to Canada, then to the United States following World War II; an active member in her church in Canada and of the local Newcomer's Club; loved playing cards, sewing, an avid reader, and world traveler with friends and family scattered all over the globe; very involved with her children and grandchildren, always helping by setting wonderful examples and treating all to her wisdom and knowledge; many children learned to swim by her expert hand and she will forever be cherished, loved and missed.

Survivors include her children, Theodore Arts (Sue), Heidy Arts, Jeff Arts, and Richard Arts (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Henry and Alexander Farleo and Morgan and Spencer Arts; two sisters, Ernestine Omner and Annemarie Albert; two brothers, Helmut and Roland Welker; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Predeceased by her son, David Arts (Rita) and their children Taylor, Annemarie and Tryn.

Visitation was 7:00-9:00 PM, Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Stribling Funeral Home.

Funeral mass held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at the Catholic Church of Jesus Our Risen Savior, conducted by the Rev. Charles J. Snopek.
