Daughter of Samuel Ulysses Grant Clanton and Anna Isabelle Hemphill; married Samuel Jonah "Brownie" West 1 January 1914 in Rogers County, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Mae Isabelle West, 86 year old former Vinita resident, died Wednesday in Norman Municipal Hospital following a brief illness. She was born February 2, 1895 in Golden, Missouri and had been a resident of Purcell for the past 2 1/2 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vinita. She and her husband, Samuel J. West, owned and operated a restaurant in Vinita for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. West. Survivors include one son, Harold J. West, Claremore; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Ann Baker, Purcell; one brother, Cleve Clanton, Vinita; two sisters, Mrs. Flossie Scoufus, Claremore and Mrs. Dora Lee Nelson, Disney; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Little's Corner-Sparlin Funeral Home Chapel, Purcell. Graveside services will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Vinita, under the direction of Little's Corner-Sparlin Funeral Home, Purcell.
