Author of the book "Maud" has passed away.Mr's. Isabella Maud Rittenhouse Mayne 81 and noted author of the book "Maud", a diary of her early life in Cairo, died last Saturday at her home in Brooklyn, NY.

Burial was in Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, Wednesday, with services conducted by her son-in-law, the Rev. Clayton Griswold, secretary of the Youth Movement of the Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Mayne was the wife of Dr. Earl H. Mayne, president of the Bay Ridge Hospital at Brooklyn and general practioner there for the past 53 years. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a year ago.

Mrs. Mayne was born in Cairo and lived in the house now occupied by A. E. Rust and family, 703 Walnut Street, which was the Rittenhouse house. It was while she was going to school here that she began her diary which formed the basis of the book, MAUD, edited by her son-in-law, Richard Lee Strout and published in 1939.

She was a graduate of the School of Fine Arts at Washington University, St. Louis. After she went to Brooklyn, she became an ardent leader of the woman suffrage movement.
Surviving besides her husband are two children, Mrs. Marjorie Anderson and Mrs. Miriam Griswold, and ten grandchildren. --From the Cairo Evening Citizen, March 8, 1946, contributed by Robin Rittenhouse. (Note: Maud was born October 29, 1864 and died Mar. 2, 1946
