Michael T. Anaya, age 54 of Vaughn, NM passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa.
Michael was born on November 21, 1960 in Vaughn to the home of Pedro Nolasco "Nolly" and Erma Jane (Gallegos) Anaya.
Michael grew up in Vaughn where he attended school. Michael participated in football, basketball and track while in high school.
Following high school Michael worked for three years in the oil fields in Oklahoma. Michael returned to Vaughn and worked in the maintenance department for Guadalupe County Hospital, he also worked for G-Force Security in Santa Rosa. Michael worked for the NM Department of Transportation Vaughn Patrol for 15 years before going to work on road construction and as a truck driver. Michael worked for the Town of Vaughn, and was a maintenance worker for the Vaughn Housing. Michael returned to work at the NMDOT in Vaughn two years ago. Michael enjoyed attending the annual NMDOT Road-eo competition.
Michael married Anna Rael on July 6, 1985 in Vaughn.
Michael enjoyed cruising his motorcycle, loved spending time with his family especially his "poops", granddaughter Aubrianna.
Michael was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn.
Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Michael will be greatly missed by his loving family, his wife, Anna Rael of Vaughn, two daughters, Janee Anaya of Vaughn and Diondra (Brian Chávez) Anaya of Santa Rosa, granddaughter, Aubrianna Chávez of Santa Rosa, his mother, Jane Anaya of Vaughn, four sisters, Tresy Garduño and her husband, J.R. of Sagus, CA, Cynthia Madrid and her husband, Joe of Fort Stockton, TX, Marie Anaya and her husband, John of Clovis and Jessica Howe and her husband, Lupe of Vaughn, two brothers, Pete Anaya of Vaughn and Celso Anaya and his wife, Wanda of Friona, TX. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, football buddy, Emily Anaya, other relatives and many friends and co-workers.
Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015 followed by the funeral Mass with Father Paul Nkumbi officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Honorary bearers will include Pete Anaya, Celso Anaya, Brian Chávez, Aubrianna Chávez, all his sisters, nieces, nephews and co-workers at NMDOT.
