She was a member of First Wesleyan Church, Kings Mountain, NC, where she was Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Secretary and she also taught Bible School for a number of years. She graduated Valedictorian from Bethware High School in 1954. She was the secretary for Clyde E. Dixon Construction Co., Inc., Kings Mountain, N.C.
