Nettie Lucille Ballard was born April 6, 1929 to Jessie Lee and Nettie (Hall) Ballard in Reed, Oklahoma. She attended school in Duke, Oklahoma. Nettie was a homemaker and had also served as a security guard at Republic Gypsum. She was a long time member of the Duke Church of Christ.
Nettie is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Beverly Lucille Gray; four brothers, Monroe, Quint Lee, JD, and Curtis Ballard; two sisters, Marie Walker and Lela Mae Martin; three brothers-in-law, Royce Walker, Bill Martin and Pete Meadville; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Ballard.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis Ray Walker and wife, Carmela, of Lexington, TX; Billie Ray Surles and wife, Lee, of Duke, OK; sister, Mary Emma Meadville of Duke, OK; sister-in-law, Maurine Ballard, Duke, OK; grandchildren, David Lee Gray of Mangum,OK, Justin Ray Surles of IN, Damon Lord Surles of Pampa, TX, Crystal Rae Foley of Lexington, TX, Dusty Ray Walker of Midland, TX; seven great-grandchildren and many other friends and loved ones
Memorials may be made in Nettie’s name to the Tipton Children’s Home, Tipton, Oklahoma, the Westview Boy’s Home, Hollis, Oklahoma, or the Duke Church of Christ Building Fund.
