Frederick Winfield Lemons was the son of Joseph Edgar Lemons and his second wife, Helen Gulbrandson-Rugland Lemons. Fredrick was born a dwarf. In the 1920 census, he is listed as living with his mother- his occupation being a "dramatic artist" with a circus or carnival. Based on the notations found on the reverse of a photograph of him, it would seem that he went under the stage name of "Freddie LeMons" and worked in several traveling shows under this name. Although the photograph of "Freddie LeMons" showed him dressed in a clown costume, by 1930 he was working in Ohio and appears to have changed his stage persona from the comedic to the dramatic- claiming to have been born in France!

Nothing is known of Frederick Lemons after 1930. It is the general belief in the family that he never married and had no children. However, we have spent more than 30 years trying to determine his whereabouts and where his final resting place lies.
