Charles W. Foster was a Corporal in Co D 95th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois as a Private, on 15 Aug 1862. The Adjutant General's Report states death due to "Drowning in Mississippi River From Transport", Natchitoches Louisiana on January 1863. Charles had three brothers' who also served in the war. Samuel and Fred, also Co. D. 95th Illinois Infantry, and George, Co K. 89th Illinois Infantry, "Railroad Regiment" ~
