Helen was born in Wolcott, Indiana, August 10, 1923 and lived there until graduating from high school. She was the daughter of Guy and Frances Parsons, who preceded her in death along with a brother, Byron Parsons.
She is survived by her husband Paul Hasselbring; two sons, Ted of Nashville, TN, and Michael (Kathy), Hawi, HI; grandson Ben (Adriana) Decatur, GA; sister Marian (Ray) Chapman, Walkerton, IN; and brother Ronald (Kathy) Parsons, Austin, TX.
She met her husband Paul of 68 years at Purdue University where they married and not long after moved to Lebanon, OH. Together they operated a civil engineering and surveying business for four decades. Helen, accomplished at drafting, headed the drafting department of the firm. Helen was generous with her time and constantly gave to others. She was a long-time member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and volunteered every Friday morning in a variety of roles for more than 20 years. She was a gifted gardener and a charter member of the Cedar City Garden Club where she had served as president and was the only surviving charter member at the time of her death. As a charter member of a woman's walking group, she was joined by many close friends on daily walks around the streets of Lebanon. She was well known by the group for her sharp wit and contagious sense of humor. And she had a passion for bridge, often playing in several different bridge clubs in the same week.
