"Doctor George Kline married Susan(na) Arndt."
"George Kline's father: Henry Kline/Klein, lived in VA before moving to PA."
"George Kline's mother: Anna Stebbins or Stebion, was from France."
"Susan Arndt's father: Jacob Arndt"
"Susan Arndt's mother: Susan Hulwick or Hulevick"

Above genealogy notes were passed down to Mildred (Bolton) Briggs; from her maternal grand mother, Rachel Ann (Ervin) Fulrath; who was the daughter of Nancy Ann (Kline) Ervin/Gabert; who was a daughter of this George Henry Kline.

Notes also state, "Henry Kline was in a military unit that took Hessian soldiers back to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, after the Battle of Trenton, during the Revolutionary War; and was FROM Virginia (doesn't say born), then moved to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, after the war", no dates cited.

In 1819, Henry Klein is listed as a resident/freeholder of West Hempfield Twp, after separating from East Hempfield, in 1818 (History of Lancaster Co PA, p. 879).

Daughter, Louisa Jane (Kline) Rhoads' death certificate states her father as, "George Kline, born in Virginia." However, the 1880 census for George, states his parents were both born in Pennsylvania. The 1850/60/70 censuses for George Kline states he was born in Pennsylvania. As well, his daughters, Susan (Kline) Gompf's & Elizabeth (Kline) Campbell's death certificates states their father "Geo/George Kline, was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania".
____________________________________________________________

According to the Aug 1810 -1850 Censuses of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster Co, PA, George's father, the HENRY KLINE household has him born Aug 1774 - Aug 1775 and died Aug 1820 - June 1830. George's mother Ann Stebbins, was born Aug 1775 - Aug 1780 and died June 1840 - June 1850. The aforementioned was calculated using 1800-1850 censuses.

Regarding George's father, Henry's birth range of 8/1774 to 8/1775, would make it nearly impossible for Henry to have been involved in the Revolutionary War or the Battle of Trenton, in any way whatsoever, since he would have been a toddler then. Its possible Henry Kline's father, aka George's paternal grand father who is unknown, was the Kline ancestor who was involved in the Revolutionary War. A possibility exists that the unknown grand father was the Hessian soldier who was possibly captured and confined to a POW camp until the conclusion of the war.

Several thousand of these soldiers fully integrated into American society and never returned to their German homeland after the war. In addition, there were also Hessian POW camps in Charlottesville and Leesburg, Virginia, as well as in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This could be the part of the unconfirmed ancestral story that makes a bit of sense, in that Mildred (Bolton) Briggs notes suggest a tie-in with Virginia before and after the war, regarding Hessian soldiers.

From the History of Lancaster County;
by Franklin Ellis & Samuel Evans, 1883.

KINDERHOOK is a straggling village located on Chestnut Hill on the public road leading from Columbia to the Marietta and Lancaster Turnpike. In the midst of the [Presidential] Political campaign of 1840, DR. GEORGE KLINE, who was an ardent supporter of Martin Van Buren, the sage of Kinderhook [New York] and the only Democrat in that neighborhood, named the hamlet in his honor and the Whigs and the Republicans have not been able to get it changed, although there was an effort made some years ago to do so. The village contains two or three dozen houses scattered over the hill. There is an elegant spring in the heart of the village that supplies its inhabitants with fresh water.

Note: "Chestnut Hill" is on the Chestnut Ridge and is aka Chickies Ridge. The spring mentioned above flows into what was formerly known as Snyder's Creek, which flows into current day, Big Chickies (Chiques) Creek, which flows into the Susquehanna River.

In this memorial's pictures, the 1864 map of West Hempfield, shows where George's home was (red arrow - on modern day Fairview Dr) from approximately 1810, onward. Same map also shows where brother Jacob's home was (red arrow - aprox. one/half mile south, on the corner of Fairview Dr & Kinderhook Rd) where he lived until about 1865, as he had relocated in Carroll County, Illinois, by July 1865. Brother Henry JR, is then shown on the 1875 map of West Hempfield, living in the same exact location where his brother Jacob SR , was living in 1864.
