EAST PEORIA - Alton J. Angus, 73, of East Peoria passed away at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Alton was born in Giles County, Tenn., the son of Merritt and Georgia Jones Angus. He married Bernadette Groux on July 15, 1961, in Nashville, Tenn.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years; one son, Alton "Butch" (Michelle Pilon) Angus of Bloomington, Ill.; two daughters, Kimberly Angus of Carrollton, Texas, and Johnnie (Jim) Faller of Frankfort, Ill.; one brother, Aubrey Angus of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and six grandchildren.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a carpenter by trade and a member of Carpenter's Union Local 183 for 30 years, retiring in 2000.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Remmert Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 12 noon Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Bennett-May Funeral Home in Pulaski, Tenn. Another visitation will be two hours prior to services in Tennessee. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery in Giles County, Tenn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor.
