Southbridge: Armand J. Boudreau, 92, passed away on Thursday, January 30th, after a long illness.
He was born in Southbridge on Oct. 24, 1921 the son of the late Clement and Alexandrina (Desourdy) Boudreau. He had been married 58 years to Simone R. (Dupuis) Boudreau who passed away shortly before him on Jan. 7, 2014.
He leaves behind many loved ones including her only child, Nancy M. Dudar and her husband John of Lebanon, CT; two grandchildren, Daniel Dudar and Monique Dudar, both of Lebanon, CT; and his brother, Leo Boudreau of Southbridge. He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Boudreau, Paul Boudreau and Henry Boudreau and his sister, Rita LePage who recently passed away on March 15, 2014.
Armand was a US Army Veteran of World War II, serving with the 36th Texas Infantry Division, Battalion 141, Company K, and was a receipiant of the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Leonide J. Lemire Post 6055 of the VFW in Southbridge. As a young man, he played football for the semi-pro Crusader football team. He was a member of the Hunters Club, Archery Club and was a charter member of the Hayloft Steppers Square Dance Club. His favorite hobbies include hunting, fishing, working in his garden and traveling. He enjoyed his bowling league as well. He also enjoyed going out to eat at different restaurants.
Armand was a member of the former Sacred Heart Parish in Southbridge. Armand worked as a mason for many years. He also worked for 9 years at Breming Tool & Die Co. and at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for 23 years. A gracious quality that Armand had was that he would light up and give a big smile to any baby or little child he saw. He love his grandchildren exuberantly. Armand was a compassionate, gentle, loyal and loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend.
A funeral Mass for Armand and his wife Simone will be held on Saturday, April 26th, at 10:00am in Notre Dame Church of the of the Blessed John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge. There are no calling hours.
