Perrin's "History of Kentucky" Vol. I (1886) notes his son . . . "Louis G. Haden was born in Louisiana, near Baton Rouge, July 14, 1846, and is the son of Robert H. and Jane E. (Curtis) Haden, the former of who was a native of Kentucky, and the latter a native of Louisiana. They were of Scotch-Irish and French descent, respectively. Robert H. Haden received his early education in his native county. When a young man he removed to Louisiana (1838), where he was married, and where he followed his trade (that of a house carpenter) for some eight years. In 1846 he returned to Franklin, Simpson Co., Ky., where he continued to follow his trade for some twenty years (to 1866). He then engaged in farming in the same county for about ten years (1862 - 1872), when he removed to Muhlenburgh County, KY., where he resided for some eight years; thence (1880) removed to Christian County, remaining about five years; thence in 1885, to Providence, Tenn., where he now resides. Mrs. Jane E. Haden departed this life November 20, 1871. She was a devoted member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Haden has been for many years a member of the Christian Church and was formerly a member of the S. of T., and of the I. O. G. T." . . . .

"His son, Louis G.[reen(e)] Haden received a good common school education in youth, and was employed on his father's farm until he attained his majority, after which he continued to farm on the home place, on his own account, for several years. He then removed to Christian County, Ky., where he was engaged in agricultural pursuits for some four years. In March, 1882, he came to Rockport, Ohio Co., KY, where he has since resided, and been engaged in the drug trade and in general merchandising with S. & M. J. Reid, under the firm name of Reid, Haden & Do. He was married March 30, 1876, to Mollie A. Sharp, a native of Muhlenburgh County. No children have been left to them. Mr. Haden and wife are devoted members of the Christian Church. He was formerly a member of the I.O.G.T. In politics he is a Democrat. "

Robert's nickname was "Harris", as his Louisiana marriage record notes his name as "H. Haden". His son's death certificate (Robert Harris Haden Jr.) states his father's name as "Harris", hence a nickname to prevent confusion between Robert Senior & Junior.

The 1st marriage of Robert Harris Haden SR., occurred 9 Nov 1843, in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, to Jane Elizabeth Curtis, b. 19 Jan 1822 in Clinton, Louisiana; d. 13 Dec 1871 in Simpson Co, KY. His second marriage occurred 6 Feb 1877, in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, to Mary Ann "Mollie" (Salsbury) Davis Kincheloe (marriage certificate picture).

Robert traveled over 600 hundred miles south to marry, as his father Samuel Harris Haden (SR) had removed east 200 miles from Logan County to Madison County, Kentucky in 1812/13, to marry Rebeccah Harris.

Gratitude and credit to Kay Haden for her insightful compilation, 'Leaves of the Tree', where she documents in expanded detail upon Dorothy Kabler Haden's - 'John Haden of Virginia' (1968). Much of this biography incorporates Kay's thorough analysis of facts and tradition, which has been instrumental in helping locate the home location and likely resting place of Robert "Harris" Haden and many of his kin.
