Charles L. Kronberg, son of Elder H. and Lizzie C. (Bernhardt) Kronberg, was born May 30, 1918, at Bloomfield, Nebraska. Charles died Thursday, January 23, 2014, at the Bloomfield Good Samaritan Society, Bloomfield, Nebraska.

Charles was united in marriage to Marjorie Gilsdorf on May 7, 1946, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Bloomfield, Nebraska. To this union, four children were born: Kathleen, Eldon, Mary Ellen, and JoAnn. In April of 2004, Charles and Marjorie moved into Bloomfield, Nebraska. Before Charles went into the service, he had worked for area farmers in the Wausa, Nebraska area. Charles served four years in the Army Air Corps during World War II, entering the service on June 21, 1944, and receiving his Honorable Discharge on September 14, 1945. Charles was a prisoner of war, and also was missing in action for two years. When he got out of the service, Charles and Marjorie lived in the Wausa, Nebraska area where they took up farming.

Charles loved to go fishing, hunting, and camping. Charles and Marjorie loved to take their grandchildren fishing as well. Charles was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.

Charles is survived by: wife of over 67 years, Marjorie Kronberg of Bloomfield, Nebraska; children, Kathleen (Daniel) Nielsen of Bloomfield, Nebraska, Eldon (Pat) Kronberg of Bloomfield, Nebraska, Mary Ellen (Tony) Caruso of Cumming, Georgia and JoAnn (Brad) Cuka of Meckling, South Dakota; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by: parents; brother, Magnus and wife Fern Kronberg; sisters, Edith and husband Gerald Vanness and Gladys and husband David Haskett; grandson, Donald Bargman; great-granddaughter, Ava Bargman;and step-grandson, Danny Cuka.

Mass of Christian Burial for Charles L. Kronberg, was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Bloomfield, Nebraska. Reverend Michael Schmitz was Celebrant.

Burial in the Bloomfield City Cemetery, Bloomfield, Nebraska. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 4996 and American Legion Post 249, both of Bloomfield, Nebraska and the American Legion Riders.
