Nancy "Ann" Kline first married GEORGE ERVIN SR., who likely died before May 1865, possibly during the Civil War. The obit for George Washington Ervin Jr - son of Nancy, says he (George Jr) moved from Pennsylvania to Illinois in 1865, which is most likely the same time when Nancy the mother, Rachel the sister, and Jacob Kline SR - the uncle, also moved to Carroll County, Illinois.

Nancy "Ann" (Kline) Ervin married on 25 May 1865 in Carroll Co., to PAUL GABERT, who was born 16 Feb 1819 / Bavaria and died 1 May 1885. They show living together in the 1870 and 1880 censuses in Carroll Co., Illinois. As well, the Carroll Co. census of July 1865, shows Paul Gabert's household had the same age/sex makeup of wife Nancy "Ann", George and Rachel. In the IRAD database, "Paul Gaber (sic) married Anna Kindle (sic), on May 25, 1865, in Carroll County". There are no others in Carroll County that could be legitimately confused with them. This also corresponds well to the July 1865 census, as they had been married for about one month.

It's unclear what happened to Nancy Ann's first husband - George Ervin SR., as his great grand daughter's genealogy notes listed only his name with no dates or other information. There was however, a "George W. Irvin" enumerated in the "Class 1" Civil War draft registration roles, declared as living in Columbia, Lancaster Co PA, born in PA, who was 34 years of age (b. ca. 1829) and was married with an occupation declared as "railroad". To date (2021) nothing has been found to indicate said George was in fact, Nancy's spouse nor has Nancy/Ann been located in any census with her first husband and children under Ervin(e), Irvin(e), Irving, Irwin, etc., before 1865.
