Maria "Elizabeth" first married on 23 Nov 1859, to William Henry Reynolds, who died during the Civil War at Nickajack Creek in Georgia, on 23 Apr 1864. He had served with the Illinois 92nd Infantry, Company I, with his brother Charles W Reynolds, who had given an account of William's death as he was "murdered" shortly after being taken as a prisoner by Confederate soldiers. Maria "Elizabeth" had a child with William, by the name of Willard, born 17 May 1861, who shows in the 1880 census as being married to Emma J. Blessing - the daughter of John Henry Blessing - the father of Effie Blessing - the wife of George Poffenberger - the son of Daniel Poffenberger, who had married on 22 Feb 1865, in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, to this Maria "Elizabeth" (Hall) Reynolds, whose parents were Henry Hall and Amanda Small. Maria and her parents moved to Illinois, from Amenia Township, Dutchess County, New York, 1850 - 1860, per U.S. census; then moved to Harrison County, Missouri, 1860 - 1870, per U.S. census. Maria "Elizabeth" did not have any known biological siblings that can be documented.

Buried in the Poffenberger plot (East boundary w/6" cement borders), No headstones. Daniel Poffenberger's father (Samuel), mother (Catharine Schamel-Poffenberger) & grandmother (Mary Ann Lantz-Poffenberger) are very likely buried there as well.
