Collingwood Saturday News April 24 1920 pg 4
On Wednesday afternoon Mr. Andrew Jardine of Nottawasaga Tp. received the sad news of the death of his son, Dr. Alexander Jardine in Egypt. The information came by a letter from the Doctor's wife who was with him in the East. His death was due to small pox.

The deceased was the youngest of the family of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jardine and was about thirty years of age. After attending the Collingwood Collegiate Institute he entered upon the study of medicine at the Western University, London, completing his course shortly before the outbreak of the war. He went overseas in 1914 and while there was married. Since the armistice he has been with the Imperials and was in Egypt when he contracted the disease which caused his death. Deputy-Reeve James Jardine of Nottawasaga is a brother and Mrs. Fred Eldon of Collingwood is a sister.
