He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Fredrick Raymond and Dorothy May (Webber) Meek.

He married Ernestine "Tina" Prater in Springfield, Tennessee on March 20, 1987. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy in 1967 and was a veteran of three U.S. wars. He was a past Street Commissioner in Wabash serving under Mayor Mike Davis, worked 10 years for General Telephone in Wabash, and taught work experience at the Upper Wabash Vocational School now Heartland Career Center. Mike attended the Wabash Freewill Baptist Church on Erie Street and was a member of the Wabash American Legion Post 15.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Meek of Urbana; his daughter, Cheryl Harris of Sacramento, California; three sons, Michael Meek also of Sacramento, Glen (Shawna) Meek of Las Vegas, Nevada, and David (Ailan) Meek of Statesville, North Carolina; his step-son, Rick Sesco of Converse, Texas; his step-daughter, Lisa (Randy) Rife of Franklin, Tennessee; two grandsons, Jerreht Harris of Sacramento and Jackson Rife of Franklin, Tennessee; his granddaughter, Taylor Rife of Franklin, Tennessee; his sister, Terry (William) Perry of Burleson, Texas; his brother, Wally Meek of Burleson, Texas; and nine step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
