Nov. 12, 1930 – Nov. 24, 2013

George E. Stine, 83, Claysburg, passed away Sunday at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Claysburg, son of the late John and Jennie (Weyandt) Stine. He married Dorothy Mae Hammel, who passed away July 24, 1989.

Surviving are a daughter, Chris Hammel (Diane) of Roaring Spring; two sons: Robert E. Deffibaugh (Marilyn) of Wisconsin and Andrew Deffibaugh (Phyllis) of Claysburg; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and dear friends and caregivers, Kim and Jim Morrison of Imler.

George served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He retired from Berwind Railway Service Co. and farming.

George attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, Ski Gap. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and flowers.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will be at Claysburg Union Cemetery. Military honors will be afforded by Blair County Honor Guard.
