He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church of State Line. He had been a farm machinery salesman in this area for the past 15 years. He was employed by Harry Fridley of Greencastle.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fern (Byers) Horst; children, Paul M., Jr., Cumberland; Fred C., Massilon, Ohio; Ray A., Martinsburg; one grandson; brother, R.O Horst, Hagerstown; sisters, Mrs. John Wallick, Chewsburg; Mrs. Henry Barkdoll, Hagerstown; Miss Elsie M. Horst, Hagerstown; Mrs. E.G. Wheeler, Kensington; Mrs. B.E. Weller, Maugansville; and Mrs. Roy Deatrich, Maugansville.
Services were held at the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery.
