Obituary - Ruth Allen Alvey, age 77, died December 6, 1991, in Kanab, Utah. Born January 16, 1914, in Lyman, Utah to Thisbe Hanks and Samuel Allen. She lived most of her life in Lyman and Escalante, moving to Kanab in 1987.
Married Forest Burns Alvey August 10, 1930, in Escalante; solemnized Manti Temple 1955. He died October 23, 1974. Married Alfred Chiono, November 1975; he died July 22, 1986.
Mrs. Alvey was an active member of the LDS Church, particulary enjoying her scouting work. She was a fantastic cook, and loved flowers, quilting and embroidering.
Survived by her three children, Freland B. Alvey and wife, Phyllis, Escalante; LaDell Alvey and wife, Karen, Kanab; Rolain Trujillo, Escalante; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers, Amy White, Mattie Porter, Hazel Callahan, Pete, Sam, Reuben, Paul, Rex, Lloyd and Ted Allen.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 9,
1 p.m., in the Escalante Second Ward Chapel. Friends may call Sunday, 6-7 p.m. at Mosdell Mortuary in Kanab and 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Escalante chapel.
Interment: Escalante Cemetery.
