Eddie was a dairy farmer with Faraway Farms for 20 years and further took on the job as a caretaker for 35 years at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. He was a member of Faith Bible Church.
In 1959, he married Rosalie Herring Yancey, who preceded him in death in 2009.
Surviving family include two sons, Ray Edward Yancey and wife, Diane, of McGaheysville and Tommy Lee Yancey and wife, Inger, of Elkton; four daughters, Rita May Williams and husband, Robert, of McGaheysville, Sandra Lee Yancey, of Keezletown, Judy Hoover and husband, Larry, of Rawley Springs, and Lori Yancey and husband, Stacey Dove, of Penn Laird; one brothers, Bobby Yancey of Elkton; one sister, Faye Shifflett of Scottsville; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Joe Yancey and two sisters, Ila Kite and Mary Breeden.
The family will receive for visitation Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 7-8pm at Kyger Funeral Home, in Elkton and also at the homes of Ray and Rita, at any time.
A graveside service will be held 2pm Friday, September 6, 2013 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
