Wojciech (Polish for Adalbert or Albert) later changed his name to George. Middle name Wawrzyn is Polish for Laurel. George is buried as Wojciech. George was born somewhere in the Caribbean on a ship coming to America. The ship was a United States ship, so George was considered born in the United States. George is the son of Frank and Rose (nee Jasiszka) Maciejewski.

George lived with his siblings: Agnus, Stanislaus, Anne Joseph, Matilda, Cecil and Catherine on Weimar in the City of Buffalo, New York.

George ran away from home. He left his school books on the railroad tracks. George wrote his name inside the cover of his school books. George changed his last name to Fisher so no one would find him. He joined Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders to fight in the Spanish American War. There is a picture taken of Teddy Roosevelt and a group of the Rough Riders with George sitting next to Teddy Roosevelt (to the right of Teddy Roosevelt looking at the picture).

George married Maryanna Wojciechowski. Mary was German and spoke no English. Together they raised Teddy, Chester, Mary, Frances, Johnny, Frankie, Hattie, Pearl and Kay at 84 Cable Street in the City of Buffalo, New York USA. The neighborhood was known as "Kaisertown'.

George worked at Pohlman Foundry on Baitz Avenue as a molder and Snow Steam Pumps Factory making cores in the foundry which later was called Worthington Pumps/Compressor. He also made and sold rope with his neighbor.

George died peacefully of old age at 84 Cable Street. He was buried with the three medals you see on his uniform. The medals were pinned to the top cover of the coffin. George had a Full Military Funeral.

Rest in Peace. Thank You for your sacrifice.
