Alvin Paul Knicely, 59, of Bridgewater died Thursday morning when he suffered a heart attack while working at the Harrisonburg Mick-or-Mack grocery. He also had had a heart attack in 1974.

Mr. Knicely was born Dec. 22,1918 near Dayton and was the son of the late Phil and Maggie Wenger Knicely.

He spent most of his life in Mount Clinton and moved to Bridgewater in 1971.

Mr. Knicely was a member of Mount Clinton United Methodist Church but attended Valley Cathedral in Harrisonburg.

He had been a carpenter and had worked as a meat cutter with Mick-or-Mack five years. He also had worked at the Bridgewater Farm Bureau.

On March 25, 1945, he married Pearl Lois Rogers, who survives.

Also surviving are a foster daughter, Diane Rogers of Elkton; three brothers, Reuben Knicely of Harrisonburg, Irvin Knicely of Dayton and Herman Knicely of Mount Crawford; six sisters, Mrs. Mahlon Horst, Mrs. Paul Andrews, Mrs. Roy Bowman and Mrs. William Burkholder, all of Harrisonburg and Mrs. Thomas Rhodes and Mrs. John Burkholder, both of Dayton; and one foster grandson.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Valley Cathedral in Harrisonburg by the Rev. Roy Munns and the Rev. Robert Hoover. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The body is at the McMullen Funeral Home, but the family will receive friends at the Knicely home, 302 Green St., Bridgewater, anytime.
