Mr. James Andrew Thompson, Jr., 86, of 5685 Riceville Road, Gretna, VA went to be with his Lord at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA.

Born in Pittsylvania County, VA, he was the son of the late James Andrew Thompson, Sr and Mary Alice Reynolds Thompson.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Riceville where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Choir.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was predeceased by a sister Mary Thompson Belknap.

Hi is survived by his wife, Ruth Parrish Thompson of the residence, two sons James Andrew Thompson III and William L Thompson, both of Gretna, a daughter Kathy Thompson Puckett of Houston, TX, two sisters Louise Thompson Adams of Java and Alice Thompson Schilling of Calabash, NC, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Graveside services were conducted at the Carl O Moran Memorial Garden with the Reverend Neville Shelton officiating.

Colbert - Moran Funeral Home served the family.
