Donavan J. Baker, age 73, of Patriot, died Tuesday evening July 23, 2013 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. Born January 29, 1940 in Patriot. He was the son of the late Ernest and Gracie Myers Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his first wife, Glenna Sue Boggess Baker, and by four brothers, Lewis Ray Baker, Carroll Eugene Baker, Ernest Earl Baker and Freddie Daryl Baker. Donavan retired as a general foreman from highway construction. He was a member of the Original Mountain CUR Association, a member of the International Laborers Union, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Oak Hill. He is survived by his Wife, Mary Stiverson Roach Baker of Patriot, three Sons, Steven (Kristi) Baker of Waterloo, John (Teresa) Baker of Patriot, and Joe (Stephanie) Baker of Pikeville, KY. Three Step Sons, David (Connie) Roach of Carroll, OH, Brian (Vicki) Roach of Lithopolis, OH, and Steve Roach of Albany, OH, a Sister, Dorothy ‘Dottie' Black of Proctorville, and a Brother, Clay (Ann) Baker of Patriot. Grandchildren, Adam ‘Butch' Baker, Tiffany (Nick) Tabor, James Arrowood, Alex (Emmaline) Burnett, Ashley (Zane) Schoonover, Logan (Sheena) Baker, Amanda Baker, Cari (Michael) Forbush, Tara (Casey) Baker. Step Grandchildren, Allison (Joey) Bocook, Paige Roach, Zachary Roach, Josh Roach, Jake Roach. Great Grandchildren, Michael Bruce, Peyton Schoonover, Ryder McGee, Chase Baker, Jase Tabor. Step Great Grandchild, Madison Jenkins Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Sunday July 28, 2013 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Haley officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-8 PM. Pallbearers will be: Doug Elliott, Tim Black, Bill Baker, Merrill Baker, Darrell Baker, and Doug Black.
