Wm Howard Deatley, 79 of Leesburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born Aug. 20, 1930 in Fayette County, the son of the late William Anthony and Elsie Jane Haines Deatley.

Mr. Deatley was a retired millwright, backhoe operator, lifelong farmer and had worked for several years for Country Mark in Washington C.H. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Korean War, and was a member of the Leesburg Friends Church, Leesburg Masonic Lodge 78 F&AM and Leesburg American Legion Post 568.

He is survived by his wife; two sons; one daughter of Leesburg; six grandchildren, all of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Oather and Harold Deatley; and five sisters, Vada Roades, Erma Johnson, Thelma Haines, Hazel Burnett and Marjorie Spruance.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at the Leesburg Friends Church. Pastor John Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will follow, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg.

Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the Leesburg Friends Church with Masonic services being held at 7:45 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leesburg Area Veterans Memorial Committee, P.O. Box 234, Leesburg, Ohio 45135; or the Old Fairfield Meeting House, in care of Leesburg Friends Church, P.O. Box 393, Leesburg, Ohio 45135.

The Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg is serving the family.
