Bessie Ann Jarvis MacDonald Childs

Early Life: Bessie was born March 15, 1916, in El Paso, Texas, to Samuel Walter Jarvis Sr. and Pearly Dean Taylor Jarvis, the youngest of their six children.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Bessie married John MacDonald Sr., in El Paso, Texas; they were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple. As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bessie served faithfully in many callings. She loves her Savior and with her husband, John, served as missionaries in the Argentina Bahia Blanca Mission. While living in El Paso and Hemet, California, she was a business woman, accountant, and bookkeeper. After living many years in El Paso, she and John moved to Adair, Oklahoma, managing a cattle ranch. Upon retiring late in the 1970s, they moved to Hemet, living there until John's passing in 1990. She then moved to Fullerton, California, to live near her brother, Ernest Jarvis. After several years, she met Carling H. Childs at church; they were married civilly in the Los Angeles California Temple on her 87th birthday in 2005. In October of 2011, she moved to live near her sons in Elk Ridge, Utah. Bessie Ann Jarvis MacDonald Childs passed away comfortably on July 8, 2013, in Elk Ridge, Utah, of natural causes due to advanced age. She was 97.
Survived By: Her husband, Carling; five sons: Dan (Diana), Norco, CA; John Jr. (JoAnne), San Bernardino, CA; Duane (Sandra), Elk Ridge, UT; Stanley (Suzi), Provo, UT; Orlan (Marilyn) Salt Lake City, UT; 27 grandchildren and 80 great grandchildren.
Predeceased By: Her husband, John; parents, four brothers, a sister, and many family and friends.
