Obituary published in Mulvane News:

Jesse Griffith Mickle was born July 6, 1862 at Augusta, Hancock County, Ill., and died July 17, 1929 at his home east of Mulvane, Kansas, at the age of 67 years and 11 days.

He came to Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas in 1887, was married to Pearl Nevada Johnson March 6, 1893 at Macksville, Kansas. They made their home near Augusta, Kansas for some time and have lived most of the time since near Augusta or Mulvane, having spent the last 17 years in the Shiloh neighborhood southeast of Mulvane.

Those left to mourn his loss are his wife, Pearl, and nine children, Mrs. Marie Roberts, Mrs. Ada Howard, Ercel, Ernest, Virgil, Estella, Opal, Sidney, and Gladys, all of whom were at home when he passed away. One brother, Harry Mickle of Miami, Okla., was also with him during the last few days of his illness. One sister, Mrs. Ida Croft, of Bandon, Ore., also survives. Besides these a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Two children died in infancy and one brother preceded him in death.

Mr. Mickle was a man highly respected and loved by those who knew him. He loved his home and it was his custom to spend most of his time there. He always extended the most cordial friendliness and generous hospitality to all who came into his home. His health had been failing for over a year but on June 26 his condition became extremely serious and he was taken to Wesley hospital in Wichita for the best medical attention that could be given. But he gradually became weakened and was brought home to spend the last few days at home. During all his illness the days were brightened by the faithful ministries of his devoted companion and affectionate attention of all his family. His days of toil and suffering are ended.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. D.L. Klingman and Mrs. Klingman at Shiloh church, Friday afternoon, July 19, 1929 and interment was in Littleton cemetery.
