A large number of young men from Eau Claire have recently been enlisted in the U.S. Navy, stated R. W. Shuey CY, United States Naval Reserve, recruiter in charge of the Navy Recruiting Station, Chippewa Falls.
John R. Duxbury, 514 Chippewa Street and Dale L. Baldwin, 113½ South Farwell Street, were enlisted as Seamen First Class (Radar Trainee). They will receive 10 months of specialized training in this new field.

Manitowoc - Raymond F. McSorley Jr., 38, of Kimberly, was injured slightly when a pickup truck skidded into the path of an automobile he was driving a half mile east of Whitelaw on Highway 10 at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
McSorley, one of five occupants in the car, was bruised about the left knee and right elbow and indicated he would see a doctor later.
The truck involved was operated by Robert N. Wenzlaff, 30, of Rt. 2, Cato.
There was extensive damage to the left rear of the truck and the car's left front section.

Kimberly - Raymond McSorley, 220 S. Willow St., reported someone apparently attempted to steal an auto from his home, pushed it into an alley behind the home, but gave up when unable to start the vehicle. McSorley indicated the auto was not in running condition.

Raymond McSorley, owner of the trailer sales lot, reported the theft Tuesday afternoon. He said his son had not noticed the trailer missing on Tuesday morning.
The avocado-colored trailer was valued at $4,296.

Raymond F. McSorley, Little Chute
Age 77, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 1, 2005. Ray was born in Eau Claire on Christmas Day of 1927, son of the late Raymond and Olive (Pettis) McSorley. In 1945, he graduated from high school and promptly entered the United States Navy and served near the end of World War II. In April of 1948 Ray married the former Ila Jean Steuding in Altoona, Wis.; she survives. In 1950, Ray re-entered the United States Navy, this time serving during the Korean Conflict. He received his discharge in 1952 and began work for the Eau Claire Fire Department, where he was employed for a time. From 1967 until 1975, Ray owned and operated Mac's Camping Center in Kimberly. In addition, Ray was also employed by the Kimberly school district as the superintendent of building and grounds. Ray also worked as a pipe fitter for Kimberly-Clark Corp. for 17 years, retiring in 1990. Ray enjoyed attending auctions and sales looking for antique furniture, which he took great pride in repairing and refinishing. He was also an avid deer hunter, and enjoyed sports of all kinds. His family was near and dear to his heart, and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a favorite pastime.

The memorial funeral liturgy for Ray will be held at noon on Thursday, May 5, 2005, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2401 Main Ave. in Kaukauna with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Military rites will follow the liturgy at the church. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight, Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at 6 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the wonderful people at Appleton Medical Center. Special among them are Dave, Bill, and Grace from Respiratory Therapy and the nursing staffs from 2nd Floor South and 4th Floor North. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Patricia Barnum Thompson, a brother: Jerome McSorley, and brothers-in-law: Bob Rudd, Tony Wagner and Jack Kiefus.
The memorial funeral liturgy for Ray will be held at noon on Thursday, May 5, 2005, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2401 Main Ave. in Kaukauna with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Military rites will follow the liturgy at the church. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight, Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at 6 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Raymond F. McSorley, age 77, formerly of Eau Claire passed away at his home in Little Chute on Sunday, May 1, 2005. Ray was born in Eau Claire, Wis., on Christmas Day of 1927, son of the late Raymond and Olive (Pettis) McSorley.
Ray is survived by his wife, Ila Jean "Dee" McSorley of Little Chute; six children, Jeff (Mary) McSorley of Appleton, Randy (Lori) McSorley of Kaukauna, Kevin (Cheryl) of Little Chute, Jill (Dave) Hanson of Symco, Pam McSorley of Kaukauna and Kelly McSorley of Winthrop, Mass.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, William (Lila) McSorley of Eau Claire, Kathleen (Art) Lanman of Bloomington, Minn., Larry (Jeanette) McSorley of Eau Claire, Virginia Rudd of Riverside, Calif., Arthur (Diane) McSorley of Phoenix, Ariz., Jeanne (Terry) Bartle of Eau Claire, Jan (Walter) Legge of Eau Claire, Dennis (Nancy) McSorley of Eau Claire and Deanna (Jim) McDonald of Belle Plaine, Minn. Born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Dec. 25, 1927
Died on May 1, 2005 and resided in Little Chute, Wisconsin
Age 77, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 1, 2005. Ray was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Christmas Day of 1927, son of the late Raymond and Olive (Pettis) McSorley. In 1945, he graduated from High School and promptly entered the United States Navy and served near the end of World War II. In April of 1948, Ray married the former Ila Jean Steuding in Altoona, Wisconsin; she survives. In 1950, Ray re-entered the United States Navy, this time serving during the Korean Conflict. He received his discharge in 1952 and began work for the Eau Claire Fire Department where he was employed for a time. From 1967 until 1975, Ray owned and operated Mac's Camping Center in Kimberly. In addition, Ray was also employed by the Kimberly School District as the superintendent of building and grounds. Ray also worked as a pipe fitter for the Kimberly Clark Corporation for seventeen years, retiring in 1990. Ray enjoyed attending auctions and sales looking for antique furniture which he took great pride in repairing and refinishing. He was also an avid deer hunter, and enjoyed sports of all kinds. His family was near and dear to his heart, and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a favorite pastime.
