Code Phennel married Lizzie “Neal” Skipper January 4th, 1890 in Bienville Parish La. I have not learned the cause but Code Died 1899. United States Bienville Parish, Ward 4, 1900 census shows L. Neal Phennel and son Curtis, living with or beside her family, the Skippers. She is listed as a "widow", mother of 2 children but only 1 living which was James Curtis Phennel.

I was told Aunt Neal and her sister, Annie J Skipper McCoy, would go to this cemetery and place flowers on
Code Phennel's grave. Cousins Lila Waites Smith & Tommy Waites gave me enough information that I feel certain, this broken headstone belongs to Code Phennel. The death date matches the information I have: This headstone was located near the infant, Oza F. Phennel's headstone: The stone is identical in shape, size and transcription style as Phennel Infant.

This cemetery has been destroyed by loggers and parish road construction. Trees, vines, underbrush and other vegetation has overgrown the area.

Aunt Neal remarried F. E. Franklin in 1901. She is buried at the newer Rocky Mount Cemetery. Neal S. Franklin is beside her 2nd husband, child Zack Franklin, James Curtis Phennel and step son Claude C Franklin.
