William N. Bembenek of Rosholt died early Friday evening, April 5, 2013 at Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice Center in Wausau with his loving family at his side. Age 80 Bill was born September 21, 1932 in Shawano County.

He was the son of the late Victor and Martha (Goszkowicz) Bembenek. He attended schools in the Rosholt area. He entered the United States Army on February 10, 1953. His rank was a Corporal while serving in Germany. He was honorably discharged on February 12, 1955 at Fort Sheridan, IL.

His marriage to Rosalie "Rose" Dudzik took place on April 21, 1956 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. After their marriage the couple settled in Milwaukee, where Bill worked for Maynard Steel. They moved back to the Amherst Junction and Stevens Point area where Bill worked as an auto mechanic for a number of automobile dealerships. He and his wife Rose also owned and operated Country Canteen Tavern for over thirty two years before their retirement in 2006.

Bill was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans (PLAV) Post 185 of Rosholt. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing his guitar and singing. His most precious time was spending time with his family and grandchildren and attending their ball games and special events.

Bill is survived by his wife Rose of Rosholt. Three daughters; Karen (Thomas) Jakusz of Stevens Point, Kathleen (Myron) Kurszewski of Rosholt and Linda Bembenek of Wisconsin Rapids. His two sons David Bembenek and Gerald (Monica Kieliszewski) Bembenek both of Rosholt. Eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Further survived by two sisters Jeanette (Frank) Wierzba of Rosholt and Mary Ann (Albert) Eiden of Custer. Three sister-in-laws Jeanette Bembenek, Elizabeth Bembenek and Sally Bembenek all of Rosholt. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Ben, Victor and Eugene.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Tuesday April 9, 2013 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt. Rev. Greg Michaud officiating. Burial will be in the St. Adalbert Parish Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point, and from 9:30 AM Tuesday morning at the Church until the time for mass. The family would like to thank the ICU unit of St. Michaels Hospital, especially Stephanie and Cindy for their tender care given to our dad and husband.
