Velma (Coulter) Miller was born on March 12, 1910 in Vienna Township, Marshall County, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of Archibald Aaron "Archie" Coulter (1888–1978) and his wife Olive Fay "Ollie" (Kurtz) Coulter (1889–1979).
She was married to Edwin Peter "Spot" Miller (1902–1982) on February 18, 1926, at Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada,, and he was the son of Andrew Mueller and Katherine (Meisser) Mueller.
The Millers farmed for many years across the road from Velma's parents out of Charlo, Montana, and later in life Velma and Spot moved to a farm near Lethbridge in Canada.
Velma died in her farm home near Lethbridge on May 21, 2002. She and her husband are buried side by side in Mountain View Cemetery at Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
