Margaret Ellen Flores
Margaret Ellen Flores was born to Jesus and Magdalena Flores on March 18, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA. Maggie (as she was known to her friends) passed away on Sunday, August 27. 2000 in Temecula, CA, after a fall caused by many years of illness.
Maggie grew up in Mojave and attended Mojave Grammar School and graduated from Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster in 1953. On December 23, 1955, Maggie married Simon Hernandez who was stationed at the Mojave Marine Corps Base. They made their home in Mojave until 1966 when employment opportunities took them to Burbank, CA. While in Mojave, Maggie was active in the local P.T.A. and Brownies. Maggie loved Mojave very much and followed what was going on very closely. Maggie moved to Temecula, CA. in 1987 in order to be closer to her daughters.
Maggie is survived by her children, Renita Rodriguez of Sylmar, CA; Anita Washington of Temecula, CA; Simon Hernandez of Boston, MA; and Anjanette Ketterer of Murrieta, CA. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and John Guy of Mojave and eight grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service for Maggie was held in Temecula on September 1. Memorial service and internment in Mojave is planned.
