Conrad Strickler, 87 years old, a native of the Vanderbilt area, died Sunday, February 4, 1940, at Smithfield, Ohio, where he had lived for upwards of 20 years. Before going to Ohio, Mr. Strickler was a farmer near Vanderbilt. He disposed of the farm and re-settled near Smithfield, where he was engaged in sheep raising.
Conrad was the son of Jacob and Rebecca Strickler.
Mrs. Strickler, the former Sarah Foster of Flatwoods, died several years ago.
Surviving children are Robert, Jacob, Charles and Thomas of Smithfield, Ohio, Mrs. Ada Shannon of Charleroi, Mrs. Martha Bell of Steubenville, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary Barger of Cleveland, Ohio. Also surviving, are the following brothers and sisters: John and Frank Strickler, Mrs. Aaron Fairchild and Mrs. J. H. Edwards of Vanderbilt, Mrs. J. F. Cogan of Dawson and Mrs. George Bute of Aurora, NE, and Jesse O. Strickler of Smock.
A service was held this afternoon at Smithfield. There will be a short one tomorrow at 11 o'clock at Flatwoods Baptist Church, with the burial in Flatwoods Cemetery.
