Services For Raymond Danel
Funeral services for Raymond L. Danel, Sr., 50, will be held at the First Southern Baptist Church in Mojave on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Mr. Danel, a 33 year resident of Mojave, was born Feb 6, 1925, in Galena, Kansas, and passed away suddenly at his home at 15824 L St., on Dec. 7.
Mr. Danel served with the 32nd Division of the U.S. Army during WW II, and was awarded both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He came to Mojave in 1942, and worked for the U.S. Post Office for 29 years. He was Superintendent of Mails at the time of his retirement several years ago.
He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Mojave, a former member of the Volunteer Fire Dept., where he held the rank of Captain, and was a member of the Mojave Desert Modulators CB Club.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva, at the home; two sons, Raymond, Jr., and Richard, both Mojave; two daughters, Mrs. Geneva Brobst, Mojave, and Mrs. Brenda Smith, Lompoc; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Danel, Lancaster; five brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
The Rev. Olin Collier, First Southern Baptist Church, Mojave, who was also the minister that married Mr. and Mrs. Danel in 1949, will officiate at the 11 a.m. services. Interment will be in the Mojave Cemetery. Halley-Olson Funeral Chapel in Lancaster is in charge of arrangements.
