Services For Jolly Franklin
Funeral services for Jolly M. Franklin, a 38-year resident of the Mojave area, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, 1974.
Mr. Franklin was born in Oklahoma on July 3, 1900, and passed away in a Boron hospital on Feb. 25, 1974. He made his home on Homestead Dr. in rural Mojave. He first came to Mojave in 1936, and worked as a miner at the Golden Queen Mine. He also worked as a night watchman, and then purchased Matt's Diner in 1950. He opened Jolly's Cafe in the location where the Kountry Kitchen now is. He later bought the Little Midget Cafe in Rosamond, and last worked as a school crossing guard until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, at the home; two sons, James and Larry; both of Tehachapi; a daughter, Rita Milburn, Mojave; two, brothers, Frank H., Oklahoma, and Ray, Susanville, Cal.; two sisters, Lucy Keesee, Kernville, and Vesta Ciotte, Lake Isabella, and 10 grandchildren.
The 11 a.m. services will be held in the Mojave Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Earl H. Jones officiating. Interment will be in the Mojave Cemetery. Halley - Olsen Funeral Chapel, Lancaster, are in charge of arrangements.
