Son of William Glee Ott and Gertrude Leora Washington Holmes. Married Gertha Lee Strickland 8 August 1941 in Reno, Storey Co., Nevada.

Basil Ott, 64, of Mojave died Jan. 16 in a Lancaster Hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1919 in Bearden, Oklahoma and had lived in California since 1939 and in Mojave since 1955.
Mr. Ott was a carpenter for 28 years and a member of Carpenters Local 743. He was in the Army in World War II. A retired business agent for the Carpenters Local, a member of the Mojave Public Utility District Board of Directors for five years and was on the Carpenters Apprentice Board for Local 743.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Masons Local 783 of Mojave. He also was on the Adult Advisory Board for the Rainbow Girls for many years.
Serivces will be held Thursday, Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Myhan of Salinas and Rev. Jerry R. Corbaley officiating. Interment will be in the East Kern Cemetery.
Surviving is his wife Gertha whom he married on August 8, 1941 in Reno, Nevada; two sons Jimmie and Don both of Mojave; two daughters Wynona and Anita and two daughter-in-laws Linda and Sherry all of Mojave; one brother Jimmie D. of Bakersfield; two sisters Geraldine Flint of Fresno and Imogene Rasmussen of Selma; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Potter, Thurman Quinton, C.T. Vaughn, Myron Shubert, John Ebert and Charlie Pridgen.
Arrangements handled by Stickel Mortuary of Mojave.
The family of Basil Ott request that any donations be made to the Basil Ott Memorial Fund at Santa Barbara Savings & Loan.
