Pioneer Club Owner Passes

Sidney Cookson, 45, owner of the Pioneer Club Mojave, was pronounced DOA at Tehachapi Hospital on Sept. 13.
Residing on the star Route, Mojave, he had only been in the area for the past four months. Born Sept. 22, 1924, in Glenburn, Maine, he had lived in California for the past 8 years. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors are: Wife Betty Lee and son William R. Butler, both of Mojave; a daughter; Linda Lee Rhea, Midway City; two brothers; Raymond of Maine and Edwin, Long Beach; and a sister Becky Davis of San Diego.
Services were held Sept. 16 at 11:00 a.m. in Stickel Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Lloyd M. Sommerville, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lancaster, officiating.
Interment was in Mojave Cemetery with arrangements by Stickel Mortuary.
